The Punjab cabinet recently approved the "Roshan Gharana" program, aiming to provide solar panels to consumers using up to 500 units of electricity. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz gave the green light to the scheme in a meeting, outlining the following key points: The provincial government will cover 90% of the solar panel cost, with consumers responsible for the remaining 10%. Solar panels will be offered to consumers through a five-year installment plan, with lower installment amounts during winter months when solar generation is reduced. The approval follows the announcement of a plan to distribute free solar panels to consumers based on their electricity consumption and offer subsidized loans for solar installation.
